Where are we now... What are we doing now…
We used money from the sale of our houses together with a mortgage to buy Greave
House Farm on the edge of Stocksbridge -
In the end we found this farm and put in a tender, explaining that we wanted to set up a Care Farm for vulnerable people. We now own a farm with about one acre of land, a few barns and two stone barns with planning permission to convert into two dwellings for our two homes. We have a few pigs, chickens and turkeys to look after and a lot of work ahead. The barns, when converted, will become our homes and the Farmhouse, which we are all living in at the moment, may be taken over by the Trust. We have an agreement to buy 14 acres of land within two years, (now only just over one year!!) Now that we are a registered company we are able to start serious fundraising for the fields.
Almost a year into our new lives we have done a lot of work on the barns and the floor is almost in. We have many tonnes of stone slates to put back onto the roof and some of the walls need rebuilding.
We have regular work days when our friends and supporters come to help with a variety of jobs to suit everyone! erecting fences, building pig pens, gardening, and generally cleaning up. Its lovely to be part of something together and we couldn’t begin to do any of this without them.
How can you get involved?
